This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the Sausage Calculator mobile app ("App").

Quick Summary

  • We collect only what we need to run the App (account, recipes you choose to post, diagnostics).
  • We don't sell your data.

  • Deleting your account removes your personal account data, but recipes/photos you published to the marketplace remain visible unless you ask us to remove them.

Information We Collect

1) Account & Authentication

  • Email address (for account creation/sign-in and support).
  • Authentication tokens/identifiers (to keep you signed in).
  • If you use a platform sign-in (e.g., Apple), we receive your provider identifier and, if permitted, your email.

2) Content You Provide

  • Recipes, calculator inputs, notes, photos you create or upload.
  • Marketplace contributions (titles, descriptions, ratings/reviews, comments) when you choose to publish.
  • Profile info (optional display name, avatar, preferences).

3) App/Device Data (Collected Automatically)

  • Device & app info (device model, OS/app version).
  • Diagnostics (crash reports, performance metrics).
  • Usage analytics (which features are used, session duration, navigation patterns).
  • No precise geolocation collected by us.
  • Ad data (AdMob): our ad partner may collect device identifiers, IP address, coarse location inferred from IP, and ad interactions for ad delivery and measurement.

How We Use Information

  • Operate core features (accounts, calculators, saving/sharing/sync).
  • Maintain security, fix bugs, and improve performance and UX.
  • Provide essential service communications (no marketing spam).
  • Deliver and measure banner advertising via AdMob.

For users in the EEA/UK, we rely on legal bases such as performance of a contract, legitimate interests (e.g., security, analytics), consent (where required), and legal obligations.

Ads (AdMob)

We display a small banner advertisement. AdMob may use identifiers and similar technologies to serve, measure, and improve ads and to prevent fraud.

  • Use your device's ad settings to reset/limit ad identifiers.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your data. We may share:

  • Service providers that help us operate the App (hosting, analytics, crash reporting, ads).
  • Public/Marketplace content you choose to publish (e.g., recipes, photos, display name).
  • Legal & safety needs (to comply with law, enforce terms, or protect rights/safety).
  • Business transfers (e.g., merger/acquisition); we'll notify you where required.

Your Content, Ownership & the Marketplace

  • Your original content (your photos, your write-ups, your notes) remains yours. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process, and display it solely to operate the App and—if you publish—show it in the marketplace. This license ends when the content is removed from the App (subject to backup/retention below).
  • Official Content. The App includes official example recipes and other content we provide ("Official Content"). Official Content remains our property (or our licensors'). Submitting an identical or similar recipe does not give you ownership or exclusivity over Official Content, and we may deduplicate, merge, or label substantially similar submissions.
  • Ideas vs. expression. Ingredient lists, measurements, and general methods are often non-exclusive and commonly shared. We do not mediate ownership disputes over overlapping or similar recipes.
  • Marketplace persistence. If you delete your account, your personal account data is removed, but recipes/photos you previously published remain visible so the marketplace doesn't break. If you want your published items removed as well, contact us and we'll take them down.

Your Rights & Choices

  • Edit your profile and content.
  • Delete your account at any time in Settings (or by contacting us).
  • Marketplace removals: request deletion of specific published recipes/photos and we'll remove them.
  • EEA/UK: rights include access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection; withdraw consent where applicable.
  • California (CPRA): rights to know, access, delete, correct, and opt out of "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell data.

Contact us to exercise rights via feedback reporting in the application itself.

Data Retention

  • Account data: kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or de-identify personal account data within 30 days.
  • Marketplace content: remains published after account deletion unless you ask us to remove it.
  • Backups/logs: may persist for up to 90 days and are then purged on a rolling basis.
  • We may retain minimal information if required by law, security, or to resolve disputes.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including TLS encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege practices. No method is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child provided data, contact us to remove it.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards to protect your data.

  • You may not copy or redistribute the app
  • User-generated recipes remain the property of their creators

7. Disclaimers

  • The app is provided "AS IS" without warranties
  • We don't guarantee recipe accuracy or safety
  • Calculator results should be verified
  • We're not responsible for recipe outcomes

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the app.

  • Prague Powder #1 and #2 contain sodium nitrite/nitrate
  • Incorrect use can cause serious illness or death
  • Keep away from children
  • Never exceed recommended amounts (0.25% typically)
  • Do not confuse with regular salt

  • Ground meat must reach 160°F (71°C) for safety
  • Smoking requires precise temperature control

The Recipe Marketplace allows users to share and discover sausage recipes. By participating, you agree to these policies.

  • Constructive reviews and ratings
